For budget-friendly accommodation inside the park, the Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) rest camps are the most popular. These include Okaukuejo, Halali, and Namutoni. They are managed by the government and offer different types of accommodation such as campsites, basic double rooms, and family chalets.
Although they are not luxury lodges, they have all the important facilities needed for a pleasant stay. Guests will find electricity, running water, private bathrooms, restaurants, fuel stations, small shops, and swimming pools. Okaukuejo is especially well known among budget travelers for its floodlit waterhole. This waterhole attracts many animals at night, and guests can watch wildlife without leaving the camp.
Camping in these rest camps is one of the cheapest ways to stay in the park. The camps are fenced for safety, and campers have access to shared ablution blocks with hot showers, braai (barbecue) areas, and shaded places to pitch a tent or park a campervan. This gives visitors the chance to sleep under the stars while still enjoying basic comfort and security.

Many are located just a few minutes from the entrances, making them convenient for daily game drives. Near Andersson’s Gate, Etosha Safari Camp and Eldorado Lodge are popular choices. Both have clean rooms, good meals, and a friendly atmosphere. Etosha Safari Camp also features a lively restaurant with live music, giving guests a small taste of local culture.
On the eastern side of the park, close to the Von Lindequist Gate, Mokuti Etosha Lodge sometimes offers discounted rates, making it more affordable for budget-conscious travelers. Other nearby options include Etosha Village and Tamboti Lodge, which provide comfortable rooms and facilities suitable for families, couples, and solo travelers.
