Campsites in Etosha National Park - Best Camping Spots & Facilities

Etosha National Park has several campsites where visitors can stay while exploring the park. These sites provide basic facilities and give travellers the chance to sleep close to nature, surrounded by the sounds of wildlife.

The official campsites are found within the main rest camps: Okaukuejo, Halali, Namutoni, and Dolomite. All of them are managed by Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) and are fenced for safety. Even though the camps are enclosed, guests can still hear the calls of lions, the laughter of hyenas, and the movement of elephants during the night.

Each campsite is equipped with a braai (barbecue) area, electricity, and running water. There are also shared ablution blocks with hot showers and flush toilets, kept clean for guest use. These facilities make the campsites a good choice for self-drive travellers, people on a budget, or anyone wanting a simple and more natural safari experience.

In addition to camping, the main rest camps also have chalet-style rooms, restaurants, small shops, and swimming pools. This allows visitors to enjoy a mix of basic outdoor living and comfortable amenities during their stay.

Okaukuejo Camp is the best-known campsite in Etosha and is famous for its floodlit waterhole. Campers can sit and watch elephants, black rhinos, lions, and other animals come to drink after dark.

Halali Camp is located in the central part of the park and offers shaded camping spots. Its position makes it convenient for visiting many wildlife viewing areas both to the east and west.

Namutoni Camp is built around an old German fort and offers a peaceful camping environment. It is close to the lush eastern section of Etosha, which is known for having a variety of animals and bird species.

Dolomite Camp, in the far west of the park, has a few exclusive campsites in a quieter and more remote area. These sites provide a wilder atmosphere and fewer visitors, but availability is limited, so booking early is important.

Camping in Etosha gives visitors a unique way to experience the park while still having access to essential facilities and nearby attractions.
