This sightseeing Namibia tour starts and ends in Windhoek. The 7-day Namibia Desert and Etosha National Park camping tour is designed for travelers who want to see Namibia’s top three highlights.

You will visit the Namib Desert, the oldest desert in the world, see some of the highest sand dunes at Sossusvlei, explore Walvis Bay and Swakopmund on the Atlantic coast, and finish with a safari in Etosha National Park.

Day 1: Windhoek to Namib Desert

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel between 9:00 and 9:30 am. Departure is at 10:00 am, driving south to Sossusvlei via the Spreetshoogte Pass. You will stop at a viewpoint to see the wide desert landscape.

Lunch will be at Solitaire Oasis before arriving at the lodge or campsite between 3:00 and 4:00 pm. Since the afternoon is hot, you can relax by the pool. An early rest is recommended as tomorrow starts very early.

Day 2: Dune 45 and Sossusvlei Desert Experience

The day begins before sunrise to catch the morning light over the desert. After passing through Sesriem, you will continue to Sossusvlei with red dunes on both sides of the road. The scenery includes white plains, red dunes, and a bright blue sky.

You will climb Dune 45 for views of the orange desert, visit Dead Vlei with its ancient trees, and climb Big Mama, one of the tallest dunes. Later, you will return to camp to rest or enjoy the pool.

In the afternoon, you can take a short hike through Sesriem Canyon. Afterward, you will freshen up, have dinner, and relax in the evening.

Day 3: Swakopmund

You will drive northwest through the desert landscapes of Namib Naukluft National Park, passing Ghaub and Kuiseb Canyon via Kuiseb Pass.

At Walvis Bay, you will reach the coast before continuing to Swakopmund, where the cooler air will welcome you for your one-night stay. Activities are available in Swakopmund at your own cost. After freshening up, you can walk through the town and along the waterfront before dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 4: Swakopmund, Walvis Bay, Himba Village

In the morning, you will go to Walvis Bay for a Sandwich Harbour tour. Check-in is at 8:00 am at the waterfront, where your guide will brief you before departure.

After the tour, you will drive north to Damaraland with lunch on the way. You will pass Namibia’s highest mountain before arriving at Oppi Koppi Rest Camp in the late afternoon. Once settled, you will meet a local guide who speaks the Himba language and visit a Himba Village.

After the visit, you will return to Oppi Koppi, freshen up, have dinner, and spend the evening at leisure.

Day 5: Kamanjab to Etosha National Park

After breakfast, you will drive to Etosha National Park with lunch on the way, arriving in the late afternoon. After check-in, you will go on a game drive in your private vehicle to visit waterholes.

Here you may see predators, zebra, giraffe, elephant, rhino, and different antelope species. In the evening, you will return to your lodge, freshen up while your guide prepares dinner, and then enjoy your meal. You can relax in the main area and watch animals visiting the waterhole before resting for the night.

Day 6: Etosha National Park

Today will be spent inside the park looking for animals, visiting waterholes, and viewing the Etosha Pan, also known as the “place of dry water.” This salt pan covers about 5,000 square kilometers.

In the morning, you will stop at waterholes and drive along the pan while searching for the “Big 5” and other animals. Lunch will be along the way. In the evening, you will freshen up, have dinner, and join a night drive before returning to the resort to relax.

Day 7: Etosha to Windhoek

After breakfast, you will drive back to Windhoek, passing through small towns on the way. Before reaching the city, you will stop in Okahandja to visit Namibia’s largest wood-carving market.

You will arrive in Windhoek around 4:30 pm and be dropped off at your accommodation.
