Mushara Airstrip - Fly-In Access to Luxury Lodges & Eastern Etosha Safaris

The Mushara Airstrip is a private gravel landing strip located just outside the Von Lindequist Gate, on the eastern edge of Etosha National Park. It mainly serves guests staying at the Mushara Collection of luxury lodges.

Built for charter flights and fly-in safaris, the airstrip offers a quick and direct way to reach the quiet bush surroundings that are part of the Mushara experience. Its location in open woodland also helps visitors avoid the heavier traffic that can be found on some of the park’s main roads.

This airstrip is especially convenient for travelers who want comfort and efficiency. It is often used by guests flying in from Windhoek, Swakopmund, or other safari destinations in northern Namibia. Flying in saves many hours of road travel and allows visitors to spend more time enjoying wildlife and lodge activities.

When guests arrive, they are welcomed by professional lodge staff and transferred directly to one of the Mushara properties. These include Mushara Lodge, Mushara Outpost, Mushara Bush Camp, and Villa Mushara. Transfers are short and may offer early chances to see some wildlife along the way.

The Mushara Airstrip is well maintained and follows high safety standards. It does not have terminals or commercial services, but it is close to Etosha’s eastern gate, making it easy for visitors to start wildlife viewing soon after arrival.

From the lodges, guests can join guided game drives to famous nearby waterholes such as Chudop, Klein Namutoni, and Fischer’s Pan. This part of Etosha is well known for its rich vegetation and large variety of wildlife. Many animals, including lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and antelopes, can be seen here. Birdwatchers will also find plenty of species, especially after the rainy season.

Choosing to arrive by air at the Mushara Airstrip allows travellers to step off the plane and go straight into their safari adventure. The quick transfers, comfortable lodges, and easy access to key wildlife areas make it a practical option for those who want to maximize their time in and around Etosha National Park.
